Management of bulbar symptoms in motor neurone disease: a community speech and language therapist perspective
Motor neurone disease (MND) is a neurodegenerative condition that leads to progressive weakness of the limbs, bulbar and respiratory muscles. The speech and language therapist (SLT), alongside the wider multidisciplinary team, can play a key role in managing bulbar symptoms associated with MND. This article provides an overview of speech and swallowing difficulties associated with MND and the possible management options.
